The Development of Seamless Steel Pipe
At present, the world’s total steel pipes production are in more than 5,100 plant in more than 1850 companies in more than 110 countries, including more than 260 plant manufacturing oil seamless steel pipes in more than 170 companies in 44 countries. In 2000, apparent consumption of seamless pipe for the country is 4.18 million tons, of which the domestic supply is 3.821 million tons, accounting for total domestic demand for 91.4%, and the import is 359,000 tons, ccounting
for total domestic demand for 8.59%. In the same year, consumption of oil pipes is about 910,000 tons. The import is 252,000 tons. From the view of ternational and domestic markets, the capacity of seamless steel pipe (OCTG) are greater than the existing demand. Therefore, it is a long-term task and the key to the successful development for domestic steel enterprises to increase the market competitiveness.
